- Material: Made from biocompatible, flexible materials like polyurethane or silicone to reduce trauma to the blood vessel wall.
- Extensions: Features external extension legs, or “pigtails,” that connect to the dialysis machine. Curved extensions are often used for neck placement to improve patient comfort.
- Securement: Includes a securement device or a cuff to fix the catheter in place and prevent displacement.
- Radiopaque: The catheter and/or a radiopaque line are visible on X-ray, allowing clinicians to confirm correct placement.
